Working and relating with animals (and children), so they understand expectations, and know how to behave safely makes me happy.
Helping an anxious dog feel calm is the first step to teaching them anything, and I’m good that. Plus, I love teaching.
Confident walking!
For social animals, like dogs, and humans, watching a peer or pack member is the quickest way to see how it’s done. And when it comes to life in an urban environment, there’s a lot to learn.
My dogs, Minnie (above) and Trixx (right) are adopted from rescue organizations, and I know what it’s like to work within thresholds.
I use positive reinforcement, social cuing, and correction, not consequences, to teach pullers to walk more gently, and the same methods to work through anxieties. Over time, of course!
Trim & Social Club for Dogs
In centre, the dogs can play together, under supervision, and experiment with socializing behaviour. Plus, they get groomed!
Taking care of their bodies is a quick and wonderful way to bond with the dogs, and at Scamps, they love taking turns on the table. Trimming toenails isn’t scary, and taking baths is part of being healthy.
It becomes part of the routine.
When their turn is done, it’s back to play time. Most dogs love to come back! Humans love it, too. Scamps is fun!
Overnight, emergency care
I can also board single dogs for short periods, but Scamps has lots of calm, friendly boarder families who can pamper your pets on an individual basis, and who would love to have them stay. Check out their profiles, and feel free to email me, at scamps@buddings.ca, if you have any questions. About anything 🙂
